Quarantined or is this the new Reality?
By: Amanda Paez
Well 2020 sure has us apologizing to 2019. A global pandemic. Forced to stay inside. I don’t know about you but not what I had in mind. Sooo, let’s do this. Let’s talk about what is going on. Openly, freely, no judgment, and most importantly mindfully. So I have to ask. Do you feel just maybe we all needed this? Before those remarks come out of your mouth. NO, I do not mean having a pandemic, being quarantine, wearing a mask to go to the grocery store, remaining six feet away from others, the world being scared, financial devastation or people dying. What I mean is the slowdown. Getting back to basics. Isn’t that really what life is about? So simply don’t you say. So let’s think about it. Have you been seeing more kids playing outside, people keeping in touch more, overall spending more time together? People surrounded virtually by family and loved ones. Can we have this be our ONE Positive aspect? Just five minutes. OK fine, I took five minutes. Now I’ll get back to feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and feeling of anxiety. We all have to remind ourselves daily to take a step back, breathe, and remember this isn’t permanent. Call a family member/friend, go for a walk, take a nap with the kids, workout, cook with your littles, dance with your kids, read a book. Do something to calm your mind and ground yourself. This too shall pass. Day in, day out, everyday know you are doing your best. Daily reminders are needed in times like these. So easy to forget the things that mean the most. Are you healthy, your family, and loved ones? Then for today, that’s enough. With the hope that humanity can change for the better. Being humble, courteous, kind towards not only to one another but our planet, Earth. We are all in this together. We are learning, growing, laughing, and crying. To include experiencing the unknown. Just remember to take each moment and breathe. If this has taught us anything it’s that tomorrow is never promised. Smile more. Say I love you. Embrace this precious time that we have. You’ll never get it back. We are in this together. You are enough. Breathe again.
